Crew and since two years hosting the clubnight „all souled out“ at the Roxy in Vienna together with DJ Aziz. There's no doubt about producer and DJ Concept being one of the most talented guys in the Austrian Drum'and'Bass business. Concept's also one of the resident Djs of the „all souled out“ nights at the viennese cult-club Roxy, where he was able to prove his skills among guests such as Calibre, Total Science, DJ Marky, Nu:Tone, Klute, DJ Lee, Marcus Intalex and many more. There's also a chance to catch this young talent at the famous Flex in Vienna on „Beat it“, „Proceed?“ and „Future Beatz“.
BODY&SOUL : 11 pm - 0 am

Nasca/ Virus/ Viper – AUSTRIA
www.myspace.com/bodyandsoulmusic
The D&B duo Body & Soul have been dedicated to the dance floor-smashing beats their audience loves them for since their introduction into the scene many years ago. For Body & Soul though the ability to keep crossing musical (and mental) borders, experimenting with different musical genres and throwing in new sounds to create something just a little different from your usual drum and bass anthem is essential. The outfit has become known for their versatile and unprecedented sounds that wow ravers all over the globe and attract new audiences everywhere they go.
After starting off their career at the infamous Bad Company Presents label, the duo branched out into different side projects and various musical fields in order to further refine their production prowess. Rob and Mike finally teamed up again in 2008 and launched their own imprint – Nasca Records – focusing solely on drum and bass again. The immediate results of their reunion were a number of high profile productions and remixes on Breakbeat Kaos, Viper and the legendary Virus Recordings.
Body & Soul recently released ‘The Reward’, a collaboration with acclaimed production partnership Camo & Krooked. Being the opening 12” on the highly anticipated Viper Recordings LP ‘Acts Of Mad Men’, ‘The Reward’ held top positions in all relevant sales and download charts for several consecutive weeks. Quite an achievement. This huge success was then followed by another massive 12“ on the infamous Virus Recordings label with austria..s hottest upcoming producer collective Fourward that proved these guys weren’t just another flash in the pan but were in fact a production force to be reckoned with. A plethora of spanking new tracks followed including ‘Spider and ‘Pure’ on their own Nasca imprint and now a slew of new music is lined up for 2010 that’s sure to delight fans the world over.
DISASZT : 11 pm - 0 am

mainframe recordings, Audioporn - AUSTRIA
www.myspace.com/DisasZt / www.mainframe.co.at
DJ DisasZt aka Daniel Fuerst-Zoffel has been involved in drum and bass culture since the mid-1990’s and now known as ’The Don’ of the Austrian scene has become an integral part of the European movement.
His Djing career, like many others, was kicked-started by his love of music, parties and vinyl. Having first hooked up with DJ Combo they bought all the records they could find and started playing at any event that would have them. By 1998 his hard work had started to pay off, his first serious bookings started coming in and he founded the legendary Bass Infection Crew along with DJ Phazes and Dom.n.k.
In 2001 DisasZt started producing with his first release ’Get it on’ making it onto the Austrian D&B compilation ’Inside Aut’. Around the same time he also launched his business as a party organiser for most of Austria’s provinces like Tyrol, Styria and Burgenland.
Then in 2002 DisasZt created his own event series called Mainframe, subheading: Vienna Drum & Bass Massive in the Viennese Wuk club. As the crowds grew Mainframe was able to move to Vienna’s biggest regular D&B venue, the 2000 capacity Arena. In 2004 he would also go on to become a resident at D.Kay’s weekly drum and bass night ’Beat It’ in the Flex club, Vienna.
2006 was a particularly important year in his career. With his subsequent business partner Andy, he launched the Zoo club; a melting pot for urban music, culture and various styles of electronic music. Since then the Mainframe clubnights with their unique flair have become an essential part of the Vienesse party scene. The following year was all about community for DisasZt, he founded the ’Basscity’ series, an event giving exclusivity to Austrian artists and Mainframe entered its sixth year, growing to become Austria’s biggest monthly blowout. Other artists to have performed alongside DisasZt include Dillinja, Cyantific, Andy C, Xample, Body & Soul, Chase & Status, Marky, Noisia, Shimon, TC, Sub Focus, Kasra, Teebee, Break Futurebound, Pendulum, John B, Craggz & Parallel Forces, Danny Byrd, Fabio, Bukem and many, many more.
In 2008 his focus shifted more towards making music and developing the characteristically dirty Austrian sound. So during the summer of that year Mainframe Recordings was launched and so far the same stellar success from his events has followed. Fronted by DisasZt, the roster has grown to include Shimon, DC Breaks, Camo & Krooked, Mutated Forms, Tenchu, MC Coppa and Ruckus Keepers. With Mainframe releases garnering support from the likes Mistajam and Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1 right the way through to club DJs such as Chase & Status and Andy C there’s no doubt that these are exciting times for DJ DisasZt. With future collaborations with Shimon on his Audioporn imprint, a hectic Mainframe release schedule and a record bag full of the freshest dubplates, DisasZt never fails to get the club jumping. 2010 get ready!
DIRTYPHONICS live! : 0 am - 1.30 am

audioporn – united kingdom
www.myspace.com/dirtyphonics
Dirtyphonics have become a worldwide phenomenon with their highly acclaimed and original live performances, DJ sets and their refusal to be defined by just one genre of music. With cutting edge releases, all of which are revered for seamlessly fusing electronic music with drum and bass, electro, dubstep, hip-hop & breaks, coupled with their recent win at the DNB Arena Awards, there’s no doubt that Dirtyphonics are the most exciting thing to happen to electronic music in a very long time.
Playte, Capskod, Pho, Pitch In and MC Youthstar all met through a mutual vision of music. All have been friends for a long time and each of them brings something unique to the creative process. With two designers within the group, they are also responsible for the artwork and graphics used in their sleeves and videos.
Dirtyphonics began performing the live act all over France in 2006 and grew a loyal, yet underground following across Europe. In 2008, the boys got a major break when their debut release ‘French Fuck’ came to Shimon’s attention. Immediately, ’French Fuck’ was released on Shimon’s Audioporn imprint, with ‘Bonus Level,’ a quirky video game inspired track on the B side. Shimon wasn’t the only heavyweight to take notice, with Dirtyphonics receiving plenty of respect and plays from Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Andy C, Chase & Status, Marky, Hype, and Kissy Sell Out– undoubtedly some of dance music’s biggest international selectors. Dirtyphonics followed up with two tracks on one of the biggest EPs of 2009; rubbing shoulders with the latest Ram Trilogy track on Audioporn’s ‘The Quarks EP’. Their title track brings dance floors to their knees with its massive dubstep breakdown and shows an incredible level of production. The EP also showed Dirtyphonics’ ability to vary their style, with MC Tali featuring on the smooth rolling sounds of ‘The Secret.’ Hot off the heels of their success with the ’Quarks EP’, Dirtyphonics wasted no time in stepping back up to the plate and delivering two brand new dance floor smashers with the massive electro-fuelled track ‘Vandals’ and the futuristic techno influenced ‘Lottery’ on the flip. The hugely anticipated Dirtyphonics remix of Shimon’s epic ‘The Shadow Knows’ is set to drop on Ram Records before the end of the year. Dirtyphonics proved themselves as a musical force to be reckoned with once again in August 2009 when they picked up the award for ‘Best Newcomer Producer’ at the DNB Arena Awards, much to the delight of the thousands of fans and industry insiders who voted for them.
CAMO & KROOKED : 1.30 am - 2.30 am

uaf, nasca, mainframe rec – AUSTRIA
www.myspace.com/camokrooked
When “one of the biggest talents in Drum’n’Bass” (according to Grooverider), Vienna based Reinhard Rietsch aka CAMO and up- and coming producer Markus Wagner aka KROOKED, who both started producing in 2002, teamed up in 2007 nobody could have guessed what impact their collaboration will have on the scene!Since then they have written and produced some of the hottest and devastating dancefloor anthems Drum’n’Bass has heard for a long time! Be it the more soulful sound of the massive “Tonight” or the raw power of smashers like “Dakota” (both released on MAINFRAME Rec.) they always hit the right buttons!
With this amazing musical talent and ambition they quickly managed to get their tunes released on the biggest Labels within the scene and on heavy rotation on Drum’n’Bass’ homebase Radio 1! Top-notch Labels like Renegade Hardware, Viper Recordings , Technique, Uprising, Sudden Def, Mainframe Recordings and many more are standing in row to get the next CAMO & KROOKED tune released! Fortunately they don’t have to wait long. When listening to their already huge discography, one luckily recognizes that quantity doesn’t exclude quality in the world of CAMO & KROOKED. They apparently finish a tune a day, with just killers, no fillers! And with more releases in the pipeline coming out on Hospital, Breakbeat Kaos, Beta, Audio Porn not to forget their massive “Vampires VIP” featured on the “Drum & Bass Arena - Anthems 2009” Compilation, CAMO & KROOKED aren’t intending to leave this highly effective path! As if producing tremendous tunes of every subgenre Drum’n’Bass has to offer isn’t enough, they’re also exploring completely different styles of electronic music like the exciting sounds of minimal house and relaxing downtempo beats with their so called CHROME project. Expect different sounds and same quality! With such an amount of studio work it’s quite an effort to still find time to do regular DJ Gigs all over Europe. But still they do! And if you ever get the chance to catch them in a club near you, grab your best pair of dancing shoes and go for it! The hottest dubplates and some heavy double-drop business won’t even give you a chance not to move until it hurts! So be prepared to get mental with the sound of CAMO & KROOKED!
FOURWARD : 2.30 am - 3.30 am

uaf, nasca – AUSTRIA
www.myspace.com/fourward
Hailing straight from lower Austria the four men collective FOURWARD started out producing music in early 2007. The boys knew each other for quite a while and shared the love and passion for drumandbass music .It was kinda like a fun thing when they played around with making some tunes at the beginning .But soon their production skills improved very quickly and people around them started to take notice of their musical output and it turned into something more serious. For them it was always a main issue not to stick to any particular tiny subgenre only, but to develop a sound of their own.
All members have different musical backgrounds which fit together perfectly and provide a great studio vibe. Days went by and the boys finished a couple of tunes properly and it wasn’t long until Austrian drumandbass producer duo Body&Soul showed interest in their works.
Also international artists like BBC..s very own Crissy Criss began to support their music giving them airplay on his radio show. As a result of their effort FOURWARD have now signed some tunes to labels of the likes of Subsonik Sound, Planet Funk or Fokuz which are perceived very well so far.
Fourward expect the year 2009 to be a big one – being hired for the notorious
Urban Art Forms family and continuing to eagerly develop their musical craft its inevitable that the boys will find their way into the international drumandbass circuit.
KK 2010. We dont stop! That was the significant wording they always followed through out the year 2009. After they got their studio gear properly geared up and living a healthy life as all austrians do, there are only 3 words at least to explain this pure hype about them.
Friendship, Creativity and Stamina...thats what Fourward is...they are just keen on doing their own thing together. Hooked up by the likes of BODY&SOUL with a solid gold collab through NASCA Recordings followed by an epic 12" for the legendary label VIRUS Recordings it was definitly the best year after being in the game for such a short time...and...
They still do not stop so far! Workflows increased! Connections increased! With Body&Soul, Hedj, Mefjus, Ben Sage and N.phect to name a few they got a proper plattform to spread their sounds and to form new sound-enviroments toghether for the heads.
Recently they got hooked up by the Dsci4 Camp, one of the most settled NEUROCAMP's since the millenium. Moreover there are releases planed for Citrus Recordings, Fokuz Recordings, Nasca Records and Subsonik Sound Recordings.
WE DON'T STOP!

Shroombab : 4.30 am - 6 am

junglistic sistaz, resident - AUSTRIA
www.myspace.com/shroombab
Shroombab, founder of the Junglistic Sistaz network, is a fixed “institution” in Austrias drum&bass-scene. She was born in Upper Austria and moved to Vienna in 1998 – where she started to change her instruments from flute & guitar to turntables & sequencers. Successfully: Gigs in over 28 countries of the world and several record releases on quality labels followed. Shroombabs efforts to create her own music and learn spinning were strong. But not enough, she combined creativity with her talent to organize things: She set up her own Drum’n’Bass nights called “Bass Land” (with MC Terra), her own label “High Tension Recordings” (with Polarity) and founded the “Junglistic Sistaz” – a database for women in drum&bass, which got a quality reference for female DJs especially in Eastern Europe.
2010 – 12 years after her start – she still delivers the same quality as at the beginning. Watch out for uplifting, spooky and movin’ DJ-Sets and strong tunes besides genre-boarders.

Bodi Bill : 3 pm - 4.15 pm

GERMANY
www.bodibill.de / www.myspace.com/bodibill
Bodi Bill are pushing forward. Their first two albums, “No More Wars” and “Next Time” have sent Bodi Bill straight into the hearts of their listeners and to the top of Germany’s electro-folk-indietronic-whatever scene – out of the blue, in just nine months. Today, Bodi Bill face a large and still growing audience of avid admirers. Their smart blend of cool electronics and touching modern folk is enthralling both on their albums and at their passionate live shows. Having taken Germany by storm, it is now time for the band to work on an international scale, to grow out of the box, to take this music everywhere it belongs. If there is a band able to represent the agile German music scene and the flickering city these guys call home, it has to be Bodi Bill. New and uncompromising, passionate and sophisticated, emotive and charming. Elegantly, Bodi Bill stake their claim in between club culture and folk aesthetics. Effortlessly playing with these opposites, they do not deny either of them its unique advantages. These two albums are beautiful electronic records to dance and listen to, full of moving songs and hotblooded tracks, weightless, whirring rhythm sequences, voices taking their time and space, lover’s odes becoming club tracks and vice versa. Bodi Bill have created two refined pop albums brimming with electronica, fat beat, songwriting passion and virtuoso programming. They stand for themselves, they outgrow their limits. The third full length album ist planned to be ready in late 2010.

His uncommon approach to music-production combined with an assured sense of sound-aesthetics led to massive respect from his colleagues and the reputation as inventor of a genre (Rainer Trüby once called this genre „Minimal Jazz House“). The follwoing albums „Seven and Storm“ and „Shine“ as well as numerous singles and remixes made Parov Stelar one of the most reliable ande successful artists of his kind.
After starting as a solo artist – not so uncommon in the electronic music scene – and gaining initial success, in 2005 Parov Stelar decided to expand his on-stage music with a full band. This collaboration with four musicians noticeably influenced his work. Since that time, the Parov Stelar Band has become very popular, captivating both the audience and organizers of many festivals, venues and clubs with the magic and dynamic energy of their liveshows.
Len Faki : 6 pm - 7.30 pm

podium, figure – GERMANY
www.myspace.com/lenfaki
When Len Faki moved to Berlin in 2003, he could already look back at years of fruitful productivity and the management of two highly acclaimed Techno labels: Monoid and Feis. His move to Berlin marked a decisive turning point in his career. With Len Series he founded an independent platform for his idea of Techno music. The basic concept, including its sub labels Figure and Podium, allows him to explore musical depths and artistic freedom.
His strong appearances at OstGut (Berlin) culminated in his residency at Berghain (the former OstGut), a position which further fuelled his open-minded approach as both DJ and producer. The characteristic extra-long DJ sets force him to vary in tone, style and feed him with extra inspiration.
At Berghain he also launched his own night on a regular basis to which he invites his colleagues from all over the world. As a logical progression, this night led to establishing his sublabel Podium with releases by Raudive, Shinedoe, Tony Rohr and 2000 And One. From its inception the label’s output was highly received and revered, setting a new standard for cutting edge, exciting Techno experimentation. Len Faki’s own tracks “My Black Sheep” and Odyssee II” turned into massive club hits in the years 2007 and 2008.
While Figure originally stood as a platform for Len’s own work in combination with remixes by friendly artists, Podium aims to release original works by both Faki and other artists. It is an open platform catering for a variety of electronic music. It is clearly directed towards the Techno floor, but always with a rich diversity in mind. After a short creative break, Len Faki has re-launched Figure for it to be more consistent with the idea and policy already established with Podium, meaning to be stylistically open and to be more artist oriented. As a consequence, Len has released music by such established artists as Radio Slave and Luke Slater, but never lost the next generation of talented producers, as numerous eps by Chymera, A.Mochi, Pfirter or Tony Lionni have proven. Consistent with this orientation, Len will relaunch his label Figure after a short creative break with a diversified repertoire. A broad stylistic range has been and is the main objective of both labels.
In addition to his own labels, Len has also produced a record for the Berghain label OstGut Ton („Rainbow Delta/Mekong Delta“, O-Ton 04), which was heavily supported by a lot of renowned djs. This ep is the result of Len’s monthly sets at Berghain, where he usually starts at 7 am on Sunday mornings. The tracks were remixed by Jerome Sydenham and Adam Beyer (O-Ton 08). On the back of this record, Len Faki did the hat trick of winning “Best Track”, “Best Producer” and “Best Newcomer” in german Groove magazine’s reader poll in 2007. No small feat at all, as no one ever achieved this before or after. This brought a lot of attention to Faki, culminating in his contribution “Death By House” for the Cocoon compilation H; a track that ruled summer festivals and Ibiza’s debauchery all over. It also won Len a nomination for the DJ Awards 2008.
His communicative DJ style makes him a true gentleman behind the turntables, an artist whose sets are passionate, powerful and never committed to one sub genre or style. His fingertips are like sensors on the Richter scale, and anticipating and triggering eruptions on the floor.
The Japanese Popstars live! : 7.45 pm - 8.45 pm

GUNG-HO! recordings - NORTHERN IRELAND
www.myspace.com/thejapanesepopstars
The Japanese Popstars are Ireland’s premier electro act and the most exciting thing to come out of the Emerald Isle since extra cold Guiness. Consisting of three DJ/producers with number one records in the US & Australia and a host of live appearances under their belt, The Japanese Popstars are a force to be reckoned with.
Using myspace.com as a tool Decky Hedrock, DJ Curntables and Galo (collectively known as The Japstars) began to attract fans, A&R, record labels, DJs and ended up signing a 3 single and 1 album deal with Paul Jackson’s very own Dozer imprint. Their first single “Rodney Trotter” was extremely well received (4 out of 5 Mixmag) with support coming from Pete Tong, Paul Woolford, Darren Emerson and 2ManyDJs to name but a few.
Now the trio are on the up and up, with their second release “Dirty Popstars on Your Radio” on Dozer Records. Commendations for the guys have been flying left right and centre, including early support from the likes of Loose Cannons, Boys Noize, Paul Jackson, Mr Spring, The Loose Cannons, Cassette Jam, Fergie and Andrew Weatherall.
Having played at numerous festivals and club venues over the past months The Japanese Popstars are more than capable of blowing the roof off anywhere they play. The Popstars currently hold down not one, not two, but THREE residencies; 515@Tripod, Dublin, Excentric@Kanya in Ibiza & The GPO in Galway, proving the pull of their unique sound. Already secure in their status as local heroes on the scene in Northern Ireland the guys are now looking further a field in their quest to raise hands and voices in the dance music world.
Major heads in the industry have tipped The Japanese Popstars as the ones to watch in the coming months. The amount of giant leaps that they have taken in the dance music industry is an accolade in itself and even dance magazine Mixmag have labelled them as the ones to watch. But don’t just take our word for it! Here is what some nice music type people had to say about The Japanese Popstars:
"By Far The Hottest Thing To Leave Irish Shores In Modern Times!!" Our House Magazine, June 2007.
"One Of The Hottest Electro Acts To Come Out Of Ireland Recently" Electric Circus, May 2006.
"Never has an Irish Dance Act Created So Much Hysteria From Press And Industry Alike" Hotpress, October 2006.
"Irelands Premier Electro Act" Steve Lamacq, BBC Radio 1 - 15th May 2006.
“The next big name of 2007!” Annie Nightingale (BBC Radio 1 London)
"The hottest new dance sounds on the Island." ?RTE 2FM, August 2007.
"The Japanese Popstars are F***ing deadly. The End. I need say no more." Connected Magazine - August 2006.
Armand Van Helden 9 pm - 10.30 pm

southern fried – United States
www.myspace.com/armandvanhelden
Armand Van Helden is a house music artist and music remixer whose biggest commercial successes came from his remixes of the 1996 Tori Amos song “Professional Widow”, which reached the top of the UK singles chart, and his own track “You Don’t Know Me” which was Number 1 in the UK in January 1999.
Van Helden was born in Boston in 1970 to a Dutch-Indonesian father and a French-Lebanese mother, but travelled around the world as a child spending time in the Netherlands, Turkey and Italy, as his father was a member of the US Air Force. At the age of thirteen, he bought a drum machine and started DJing two years later.
He returned to Boston in 1988 but also moonlighted as a DJ in Boston clubs. He attended Boston University. He quit his legal review job in 1989 to work as a remixer/producer for Mega-Mixx Productions DJ Remix Service (co-founded by his long time manager, Neil Petricone) where he reworked and re-edited a number of club records for the DJ-only service, including Shawn Christopher’s “Another Sleepless Night.” He also took up an occupancy at ‘The Loft’, Boston’s leading nightclub.
Mega-Mixx’s success was short lived. Mismanagement brought the company to a halt in early 1991. Later that year, he and Petricone, along with founding A&R coordinator, Tony Zeoli, launched X-Mix Productions, a similar DJ Remix service, which still exists today (http://www.xmix.com). Catching the attention of legendary Strictly Rhythm and Nervous Records A&R guru, Glady Pizarro, in 1992 Van Helden released his first official single “Stay On My Mind” under the psuedonym Deep Creed, through Nervous Records.
In the early 90’s, he also released singles on X-Mix sister label, AV8 and DV8 Recordings (The DV8 name was owned by X-Mix until it was purchased by A&M Records). The Pirates of the Caribbean EP on AV8 is a little known, but widely sought after out of print 12” vinyl recording. There were a few hip hop EP’s released on AV8 as well.
He released “Move It To the Left” (credited to Sultans of Swing) in 1992 on the Strictly Rhythm label, which became a moderate club hit. His first track to make the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart was “Witch Doktor” which made the top 5 in 1994.
The success of “Witch Doktor” led to opportunities to remix acts such as The Real McCoy (“Another Night”, New Order (“Bizarre Love Triangle”), Blondie (“Atomic), Capella (“U Got To Know”), Lightning Seeds (“Jackie Lucky”), Deep Forest (“Marta’s Song”), Jimmy Somerville (“Heartbeat”), Deee-Lite (“Dewdrops In The Garden”) and Faithless (“Insomnia”). However, it was the “Professional Widow” remix that established him and became a dance hit around the world as well as a number one hit in the UK. Unfortunately, Van Helden did not receive a penny for this mix as he presented it uncommissioned, and thus was not entitled to compensation. However, it led to work remixing The Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears and Puff Daddy as well as Daft Punk and the Sneaker Pimps, and adding to his reputation as one of the world’s top house musicians.
Within dance music circles, Van Helden is widely credited for the introduction of the U.K. bred Speed Garage sound to the U.S. club scene with incredible set of remixes. The sound, identifiable by its deep bass subtones, long melodic breaks, and devestatingly hard hitting beats are exemplified in the following remixes beginning in 1995 with Jimmy Somerville “Heartbeat”; CJ Bolland’s “Sugar Is Sweeter”; Faithless “Insomnia”; Tori Amos “Professional Widow”; Apollo 440 “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Dub”; and Sneaker Pimps “Spin, Spin, Sugar.”
“Cha Cha” was another top ten dance hit from his first album Old School Junkies released in 1996, along with “The Funk Phenomena”. A greatest hits album appeared the next year followed by a breakbeat album later in 1997. “U Don’t Know Me,” a collaboration with vocalist Duane Harden from the album, “2 Futur 4 U,” was a number two hit on the Billboard dance chart, a Number one in the UK and a top 20 single on the pop charts in Australia and Canada.
In 1000 UK #1 Hits by Jon Kutner and Spencer Leigh, Armand Van Helden explained, “You Don’t Know Me was a perfect example of putting 2 simple things together, the beats from Jaydee’s Plastic Dreams and a disco loop from Carrie Lucas.”
Van Helden released the Killing Puritans album in 2000 which contained the dance hit “Koochy”. His single “Why Can’t You Spend Some Time” made the number 34 in the UK in 2001. His New York: A Mix Odyssey album released in 2004 produced two hits:
* “Hear my Name” reached number 7 on the Billboard dance chart, was top 30 on world and internet charts, made number 34 in the UK, and reached the top 40 in Australia; and
* “My My My” reached number 4 on the world internet charts, number 5 in the Belgian and Dutch charts, number 6 in Australia, number 15 in the UK and top 30 in the world dance charts.
In 2005 he released the album Nympho featuring the singles “Into Your Eyes”, “My My My”, “Hear My Name” and “When The Lights Go Down”. The album reached the top 30 in Australia, and number 48 in the UK.
Van Helden, who lives in New York City, continues to be managed by Neil Petricone of X-Mix Productions. The management company is based in Somerville, MA, but it has since split with the X-Mix Remix Service, although the two companies do continue to work together on a number co-owned label and distribution projects.

In 2009, he’s forged a strong bond with Instra:mental through collaborative productions plus the Autonomic podcasts and together they’ve earned residencies at Fabric and Rinse FM. His DJ sets are second‐to‐none and renowned for showcasing the freshest tracks, impeccably crafted to deliver the perfect balance of depth and raw energy. Together alongside SP:MC, the pair form a highly effective combination, twisting dancefloors inside out with live sets that are unpredictable and inspirational. In early 2010, he will be taking the Autonomic sound live and touring with Instra:mental to promote their Fabriclive mix CD before the release of his second artist LP later in the year.
No other artists have had such an immediate impact on drum & bass in recent years as Instra:mental, the highly acclaimed duo of Al Bleek and Kid Drama. Since their early releases on Soul:r and Darkestral, the pair have been steadily building momentum with a number of influential singles across labels such Exit and Naked Lunch and developing a diverse and unique sound that crosses a range of styles and tempos. Instra:mental have so far forged successful studio partnerships with the likes of Jonny L, Skream, Burial and most notably dBridge, with whom they have hosted the Autonomic podcast series. Dubbed 'Best Breakthrough Producers' in DJ Magazine's Best of British awards 2009, this accolade only tells half the story. Their remarkable rise this year has seen the launch of their label NonPlus+, the start of residencies for Fabric and Rinse FM and a whole host of international appearances including festivals in Croatia and Sardinia plus a tour of Japan. In 2010, we can look forward to the release of a Fabriclive mix CD plus accompanying tour as well as albums from ASC and Instra:mental on NonPlus+ and yet more from this prolific duo.
Within the last 5 years, SP:MC has established himself as one of the busiest and most innovative MCs in both drum & bass and dubstep. As well working closely with front‐runners DJ Friction, dBridge, Breakage and Youngsta, he holds residencies at leading nights including Shogun Audio, A Bunch of Cuts and Club Autonomic where his passion for music undoubtedly comes through on the mic. With a unique flow and the confidence to leave space for the beats to breathe, it’s clear that SP is an MC who only compliments and never competes with the DJ. He’s also proved to be a talented producer in his own right with recent releases on Tempa (alongside Joker D) and Shogun LTD (with Jubei and Dakuan as Code3). Following up his latest Tempa 12” with another Code3 release (forthcoming on Exit Records) in 2010, SP:MC looks set for yet another big year.
LOGISTICS : 7.30 pm - 9 pm

hospital rec – united kingdom
www.myspace.com/logisticsnmte
Logistics grew up on a self prescribed musical diet, equal parts guitar based compositions from bands such as Rage Against The Machine and down tempo efforts from labels like Mo' Wax. Matt Logistics railed against the music his brother, Dan Nu:Tone would listen to and finally acquired a taste for Drum & Bass through the Full Cycle 'Music Box' LP. "That LP was like down tempo tunes with double time beats!" he explains "I'd always been into stuff like Mo' Wax and that album, particularly '11.55' by Roni Size & DJ Die had the same vibe that I could relate to."
Having a brother already signed up to Hospital didn't qualify Matt for an 'automatic in' and it wasn't until he sent Replay down to the office, swiftly followed by Fabio and Grooverider picking up on the tune, that he got his chance to work on his own album project. Having just left college this was a great opportunity for Logistics and he made the very best of it, working solidly on creating masterpieces in the form of Together, Spacejam, The Trip and Release The Pressure (the only previously released tune on the album) and bridging the gap between what until then had often been a lacklustre sub-genre; Liquid Funk and more exciting, dance floor orientated Drum & Bass. It's Logistics' influence that has been picked up by the major DJs in the scene such as Andy C and Friction, and his anthemic creations have contributed greatly to the modern Hospital sound.
The LP itself Now More Than Ever (released in winter 2005) is a hugely ambitious project, restraining no less than 24 speaker busting tunes beneath its calm exterior a double CD affair with CD1 'Now' offering a traditional Logistics sound while CD2 'More Than Ever' comes at you like a hungry Lion, simply and effectively looking to tear out your jugular with a deeper and rougher sound.
This man is so prolific - there are already a whole host of hot new Loggy dubs doing the rounds... watch this space for the next ones to make it onto NHS wax!

Bursting onto the scene in 2007 with an array of high profile releases on labels such as Bingo Beats, Charge, Viper and Ruffige Recordings, Sigma are poised to make even more noise in 2008. Their smash hit All Blue holds the title of being the most-downloaded track of all time on Drum and Bass Arena, as does their podcast mix, which has received over 100,000 downloads to-date. Sigma's acclaimed live sets have seen them move up the ranks of the dj circuit in a relatively short space of time, playing at some of the most prominent events across Europe and the UK , including one of the largest drum and bass parties in the world in Russia, host to over 40,000 attendees. Most recently, Sigma smashed it on a 10-day tour of Australia with the legendary DJ Hype. One half of Sigma is an ex-DMC turntablist champion, bringing an added flavour to their sets, often performed on three or four decks, which are bursting with the freshest dubplates. 2008 looks bright for Sigma, as they continue to be hard at work in the studio, recently completing a remix of Roni Size's classic Music Box, as well as loads of fresh Sigma material. The boys continue to generate interest among the drum and bass community, receiving profiles and coverage on Drum and Bass Arena, and publications such as Mixmag, ATM, Knowledge, DJ Mag, RWD. A recent nomination for best breakthrough dj at the Drum and Bass Awards and a sponsorship with Money Clothing have helped to ensure that the Sigma star continues to rise.

RONI SIZE & DYNAMITE MC : 0 am - 1.30 am

full cycle – United Kingdom
www.myspace.com/ronisizebristol
Roni started on the path of production when he was thrown out of school aged 16, but music had always been a part of his life. Born and raised in Bristol, the sounds of the 70s blues parties and sound-systems happening in the St Pauls area of the city infected Roni's bones.
Meeting up with Krust in the early 90s brought two musically compatible minds together, subsequently creating Full Cycle in 1993 and a new direction for electronic music.
Having built a name for himself through Full Cycle and other labels, such as Talkin’ Loud, 'Roni Size & Reprazent' took the world by storm in 1997 with their New Forms LP. Winning the Mercury Music Prize boosted their international status and the world awoke to the sound of Roni Size and Full Cycle. Thanks to such modern day classics as ‘Watching Windows’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Brown Paper Bag’, the album quickly went platinum.
In 1999 with Die, Roni produced the highly acclaimed Breakbeat Era album and later that year released the long awaited second project from Reprazent, 'In the Mode' which included collaborations with hip-hop legend Method Man, Rage Against The Macine's Zac de la Rocha and beat-box master Rahzel.
2002 saw the release of 'Touching Down', Roni’s first truly solo album and one of the biggest selling independent d&b albums to date. Then in 2005 Roni came back to 'V' with the release of 'Return To V' which included the top 20 hit 'No More' with Beverley Knight.
Roni Size resurrected Reprazent in 2008 with the release of a deluxe edition of his Mercury Music Prize winning album 'New Forms' on Universal in 2008. Reforming the band, they toured the biggest festivals in Europe and were amongst the nominations for best dance act from the UK Festival Awards.
Roni & Reprazent recently collaborated with the BBC’s Nature’s Great Events composer, William Goodchild, to play a landmark gig with an Orchestra and Choir to mark the re-opening of Bristol’s Colston Hall. The night was rightly dubbed as the “show that we'll be talking about for years to come.”
With so much already accomplished in his career, its no surprise that the 2010 is set to be a busy time for Roni. Currently in the studio producing his next Roni Size album, whilst also working with the band on a new Roni & Reprazent album, stay tuned to hear about these soon.

Dan Stein is one of the longest-serving Drum'n'Bass DJs and producers and better known by his alias DJ Fresh. Fresh is one of the founders of the legendary label „Bad Company Recordings“ and currently running „Breakbeat Kaos“. He has developed something like a sixth sense for hot new talents, since it was Fresh himself who signed Pendulum on to his label „Breakbeat Kaos“ after their first hit „31 Records“ and started the hype around the three Australians. Aside with„Bad Company Recordings“ „Bad Company“ is one of the most influential and controversial acts in Drum'n'Bass history. After splitting up with the other „Bad Company“ founders Maldini, Vegas and D-Bridge, Fresh and Adam F founded the label „BreakBeat Kaos“. „BreakBeat Kaos“ quickly emerged to be one of the most significant labels in Drum'n'Bass.

www.noisia.nl / www.myspace.com/denoisia
NOISIA (who took their name from the word ‘VISION’ inverted on an upside down VHS tape) are Nik Roos, Thijs de Vlieger and Martijn van Sonderen, hailing from the Netherlands. Influenced by an eclectic range of artists, from The Prodigy to James Brown, Miles Davis to Konflict, Noisia make music for DJs and dance-floors that is interesting enough to cross over from the clubs to your MP3 player.
2005 saw Noisia establish their own label, Vision Recordings to put out their drum&bass productions and collaborations and retain creative control of their music. Nik designs almost all of the artwork for the releases on their labels, and the guys love the challenges and rewards that come with running a label. Vision Recording’s biggest releases to date have been ‘The Tide’, ‘Exodus’ Feat. KRS One and ‘Stigma’. In 2007 they established Division, a non-D&B label for electro, breaks and house.
Over the past few years, accolades for Noisia have included ‘Best Producers’ at the Dutch D&B Awards in 2006 and 2007, Knowledge Mag Top 20 Tunes of the Decade 2000 – 2009: No 4 with ‘The Tide’, ‘Best Tech DJ’ in the UK National D&B Awards in 2009 and ‘Best Drum&Bass Artist’ on Beatport.
The guys have worked with, and remixed a number of artists, with notable tracks including, ‘Alice’ by Moby, ‘Omen’ by The Prodigy and more recently, Foreign Beggars, Amon Tobin with whom they have collaborated on their forthcoming debut album and Hadouken whose entire new record ‘For The Masses’ they produced.
Their DJ schedule is tiring even to look at, they have played in major cities all over the world, from Sydney to Moscow, Tokyo to Berlin and have DJ’d in some of the world’s biggest clubs. Their track ‘Groundhog’ is featured twice on DJ Hero, a game which has been an international success, ‘Stigma’ was used on the game Gran Turismo and ‘Machine Gun’, the first single off the new album, features in the game WipeOut.
2010 is an exciting year for Noisia, they start a new imprint called Invisible which will cater for deeper and more experimental drum&bass releases, produced by themselves and other artists and sees the release of their debut album ‘Split The Atom’ which features a wide variety of styles and genres from electro to drum&bass. 2010 will also be the year Noisia explore the LIVE direction of their music, challenge themselves and push their musical style whilst continuing to make the ‘bangers’ they are known and loved for!
ED RUSH & OPTICAL : 4.30 am - 6 am

virus rec – United Kingdom
www.myspace.com/edrushvirus
Ed Rush is one of the current leaders of the new school drum and bass. One of the originators to bring back the dark sounds of drum and bass and push it to new levels, Ed Rush continues to make waves with each new release. Born in west London, Ed Rush originally started out into Hip Hop and electro but eventually found the growing underground rave scene. Fascinated by the breaks in the hardcore sounds at the time, Ed Rush convinced his neighbor, Nico Sykes, to let him produce tracks with him.
Eventually they released "Bludclot Artattack" in 1993 - a journey into the darkcore sounds. While most releases at the time had a certain momentum and feel, the track was like no other, and marked the shift of hardcore's split into drum and bass.
Ed Rush eventually released follow-ups nearly two years later, this time with DJ Trace, on "The Mutant" in 1995. "Guncheck" soon followed, another track developed in a recognizable Ed Rush style - gangsta attitude, and crunchy basslines.
Ed Rush soon found himself on the cusp of prominence, as his releases in 1996 on the Techsteppin' compilation, the Skylab EP on the Metalheadz label, and "Killimanjaro" on the Prototype label all helped to define the genres' direction towards techstep, a two-step style of drum and bass. He subsequently released more tracks on various labels, and his popularity as an artist grew, as did his sound as a producer.
The greatest collaboration was ahead of him though, when he teamed up with Optical. They created their own label, Virus, and their first release was "Medicine/Punchbag," Their eventual LP, Wormhole in 1998, was released to critical and underground success, and is regarded as a genre classic, as the sounds from that album again redefined the direction drum and bass was headed, and solidified their status as the forerunners of the new sound of drum and bass.
More recently, after a slew of other releases, Ed Rush and Optical have released another genre-defining LP, the Creeps. This was again met with critical and commercial success, as the album helped them to win Knowledge drum and bass award for producers of the year.

KOMATON live : 9 pm - 10 pm

merkesdir rec - AUSTRIA

Five lines lay the foundation for a new sound community: KOMATON. Tomá Ivanov and Sebastian Lehner are two young Austrian sound artists living in Vienna and Linz. Always focusing on their passion to touch and move the body and soul of their audience, they express their musical sentiments through the utter infinities of electronic sounds without compromise. But the dynamic duo didn't just pop out of nowhere. Their joint musical history already began in their early youth. Initially connected by their fascination, the freedom and emotionality of rich electronic sounds, the two freethinkers in their mid-twenties never cared about genre borders; the main point has always been that the beat kicks and the message is credible.
Since 2009, Sebastian Lehner alias Beppo Ton and Tomá Ivanov aka Garnet Ivanov go a part of their journey into the electronic realms as KOMATON. What the producer duo is about in their releases, live or on tape? Short and sweet, compact but beautiful: Getting those big human emotions and desires on a record and making them perceptible as electronic music - using all it takes: polished songwriting and delicate arrangements, at all times steadily supported by driving beat constructions. Inspired by contemporary colleagues like Clark, Matthew Dear, Modeselektor or the dreaded Wighnomy Brothers, their authentic way to sing makes them stand out from the masses.
The youngsters present a first preview of the forthcoming releases on labels like Merkesdir Records via Myspace and Facebook. Basically, that's modern and absolutely right - but KOMATON's real show happens on stage. Their live act is electronic sound entertainment combined with comatose surprise effects for all free listeners and dancers of the world - always in touch and on a level playing field with the audience. The two musicians' artistic ideology is in their continuous exchange with the like-minded and the processing or scoring that is fueled by their thereby newly found inspiration. KOMATON is a passionate musical profession, pooled in a sound community for body, spirit and soul.
CLARA MOTO : 10 pm - 11 pm

inFinè – AUSTRIA
www.myspace.com/claramoto
Geneva Airport. July 2007. It’s a two-hour wait in Terminal 3 before boarding for sleepy-eyed Clara. Coffee is helping. She is headed for the Montreux Festival, to open for Matthew Jonson’s Cobblestone Jazz. Only a few weeks back, she was performing at Barcelona’s Sonar, making this her second appearance at a major international festival.
Born in Graz, a pretty Austrian town steeped in history, she grew up in a house filled with the instruments her parents had collected over time. There was a piano on which she practised as a teenager and a hi-fi system on which she played Kruder & Dorfmeister’s and De La Soul’s latest productions on repeat. Clara loved the idea and feel of vinyl. She cut her teeth playing records on Tuesday nights at her student bar. A small team began to form around her, soon followed by the launch of the Houseverbot label and the Birds parties, Postgarage’s flagship minimal nights. As one thing led to another, the club’s main resident – under her new “Clara Moto” moniker – spun her microgrooves all the way to the capital, Vienna, and its festivals (Elevate, Springs).
Autumn 2006. Melbourne. Clara was selected to attend the Red Bull Academy, a platform for up-and-coming talents, invited over the course of a few weeks to perfect their studio technique and meet professionals. Also part of the talent pool that year were Flying Lotus and Douglas Greed. The Academy organises tours for its best students, who get to perform at major European festivals on a dedicated stage. Which takes us back to where our story began: Geneva Airport. The Montreux Jazz Festival. Chance encounter in Terminal 3. An enthusiastic young French Dj tells her all about the label he has just set up together with a few friends, his first protégés Francesco Tristano and Danton Eeprom and his desire to develop and nurture young talent. Agoria is his name, and InFiné the label. Fast forward to Autumn 2007. InFiné releases Clara Moto’s “Glove Affair”, a firm-handed, delicious minimal house cut. One year later, and it’s with the release of “Silently”, a light and fluffy tune featuring a killer chorus that Clara, with the help of Mimu on vocals, reveals a strong penchant for pop. As 2010 dawns and her first album is released, Clara provides ample proof of her allegiance to electronic music. Her affection for the genre comes in many forms, each imbued with her unique brand of femininity, and she embraces it in all its diversity and spontaneity. Clara takes life snapshots, fragments of emotions and her daily – and nightly – perceptions and turns them into sounds. So it is quite appropriate that the opening track should be named after a character in The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon. Clara Moto is polyamorous: the full-on intensity of simple little love stories moves her more than relational exclusivity agreements of epic proportions.

Born in 1978, Luciano is a DJ since 1993 and a producer since 1997. In the mid-90’s, he was promoting Sense Club and Encuentros con la Technocultura in Santiago de Chile in the company of many initiators of the Latin American electronic music scene: Senor Coconut AKA Atom Heart, Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack & brother Adrian Schopf, Washington Miranda, Argenix Brito, Microman etc.
He’s played radio stations and DJed clubs & events in Santiago and Latin America, Germany, Spain & Holland, settling in Switzerland in 2000 to release on Mental Groove Records in Geneva, where he also holds a residency at the Weetamix club. His releases appear on the Transmat, Perlon, Lo-Fi Stereo, Bruchstuecke and Klang Elektronik record labels.
Luciano’s mixed Swiss & Chilean identity shows in his music, a somewhat mystical blend of deep techno & electro that integrates southern elements in rhythms and colorful patterns in sound. His collaborations with Ricardo Villalobos (Playhouse, Perlon, Warp, Force Inc etc.) as Sense Club are especially rewarding, as is his partnership with Pier Bucci and Argenix Brito as Monne Automne.
Mellowing his style as times goes by, getting more experimental and spacey with a fresh style of his own, Luciano’s production is destined to the wiser dancefloors that have enjoyed his live sets in Peru, Chile, Argentina, the U.S., Spain, Germany & Switzerland. DJ-wise, Luciano’s trade relies on groovy & minimal.

He also released on big labels like Nu Breed, Navida and A. Paul’s Naked Lunch Recordings from the UK. He headlined parties at smashing clubs such as the Zoreks (Barcelona), Wagon (Wroclaw), Zoo Project (Ibiza), Kashmir (Budapest) and Tiefenrausch (Menden). Gaetano is passionate about his job. He’s digging deep into the crates to track down deep, impulsive and authentic musical developments amongst the mass of records, always with a keen and experienced eye on the gems of the past. His DJ sets always start with an idea that flowers out and leads the audience through his performance. Emotional, extravagant and charismatic but still straight forward, Gaetano’s style is more techno than electro, ranging from maximal to minimal. Full of depth and filled with bass, it is often surprising and propelling, though still clear. Enjoy his sounds and keep the vibe!

At the age of 22, the young talent has already played for thousands of people at events and clubs all over Austria, including Unite Parade in Salzburg, Cembran Cellar Linz, Camera Vienna and the famous Hypnotic at Pyramide Vösendorf as well. He also has his residency at the Minimalicious Event Series at Yum Yum Club, where acts like Marco Bailey, Kosheen, Lützenkirchen, Felix Kröcher, Gayle San and many many more have played. In 2009 he released his first tune on Gaetano Verdi´s label ‘Oktant Records’, which you can also find on the Urban Art Forms “black” Mix Compilation.
His DJ sets are nothing short of phenomenal - variing from deep, intricate, chugging techno, to jackin´ tech house, into huge anthemic house moments in the classic vein. http://www.myspace.com/markdomine
Mark Domine is the co-owner of the Austrian Techno label Driving Forces Recordings. He came into touch with electronic music in 1996 for the first time. At this particular time he was a real party maniac. After 4 years hard celebrating as a part of the crowd, he took a time out of the techno scene and became interested to an industrial way of sound. In 2000 he made his first experiences in mixing vinyl and handling with DJ equipment. This was the crucial moment in his life where everything changed and Mark started to collect all different kinds of electronic music vinyls. To feel and understand the message of a single track became more important for him than just making party. In 2002 he decided to come back to the Techno scene and fixed his style , getting inspired by DJ´s and producers like:Adam Beyer, Sven Väth, Dave Clarke, Cari Lekebusch, Technasia, Gabriel Ananda, Kevin Saunderson, Gary Beck, and his idol Richie Hawtin and the hole Minus crew. It was also the crucial year when he met his Dj and producing partner and longstanding friend Sutter Cane. Mark made his first experiences in performing on Techno events. After a short time Sutter Cane got the bright idea of starting some kind of a label and Dj community called Driving Forces. At the beginning including just two members - Mark Domine and Sutter Cane. Both well known for pounding Techno like the ones of Chris Liebing or Dave Clarke, Terence Fixmer and so on.
But over the years Mark Domine improved his skills in playing different ways of electronic music and turned to a more Minimal - Techno hybrid style. He is arranging his sets systematically to a real techno explosion.
In spring 2009 Sutter Cane's and Mark Domine's dream of an own record label finally became true and so they founded their company Driving Forces Recordings. They are featuring massive releases by Eric Sneo, Chris Hope & Andre Walter, Virgil Enzinger, Bas Mooy and of course Sutter Cane & Mark Domine. More to come!

YOUSEF : 3pm - 4.45 pm

CIRCUS RECORDINGS - UNITED KINGDOM
www.yousef.co.uk / www.myspace.com/yousefcircus
Reputation is a wonderful thing. It’s certainly something Liverpool DJ/Producer Yousef has come accustomed too, carving his own legacy across the global electronica circuit for close on a decade. Yousef was first bitten by the acid house bug at the legendary rave metropolis “Shelly’s” in 1991 and since then has grabbed the global industry by the scruff of the neck, forcing his way in through sheer talent and determination. Residencies at Ministry of Sound, Renaissance and most notably Cream, cemented the scouse empire with a love of house at a point where trance began to rule clubland. Yousef then went on to conquer the rest of the UK taking his infallible understanding of house to Basics, Pressure, Shindig and every other top UK club. The rest of the world followed with Yousef skipping across continents with the same glee as the snapping beats in the music he played. Booked in the world’s best clubs on a regular basis, Yousef quickly became synonymous as one of dance music’s global figures, a position he still holds to great acclaim. Relentlessly playing worldwide has given Yousef a mature & broad musical taste, twisting electronica with house, vocals with techno. Yousef stays current without jumping on bandwagons, his finger on the pulse without wavering to trends. This keen ear for what works on the dancefloor also translates in the studio. Yousef has remixed for many world-class DJ’s including Fatboy Slim which have been released on a slew of rave emporiums like Skint, Slip N Slide, Junior boys own, CR2, Sony and Peppermint Jam, Underwater and Denmark’s Okyo. Carl Cox V’s Yousef “I want you” on CR2 hit the number one spot in March for 3 weeks in the hype chart and went on to crack the national top 20 indie chart.
Whether criss-crossing the globe with his arsenal of varied sounds or impregnating his own individual aural histrionics on wax, Yousef is stamping his identity on dance music and leaving a lasting impression. There’s few who come close in terms of dedication or in the variance of approach, Yousef hits each and every base with alarming regularity.
Carl Cox : 4.45 pm - 7.15 pm

intec – UNITED KINGDOM
www.carlcox.com / www.myspace.com/djcarlcox
A perennial favorite as the best DJ in the world according to fans as well as the major mixing magazines, Carl Cox has been a part of Britain's dance scene from the heady days of disco through to the global clubland of the new millennium, with temporary pit stops covering hip-hop, the rare groove movement, and the immense rave revolution of the late '80s. That large span of time has undoubtedly affected his choice of records, since Cox routinely detours through breakbeat, Italian house, and the dance mainstream during his usual sets of hard techno. Perhaps the best testament to his mixing skills is his immense popularity despite his focus on music much more intense than the brand of arena trance spawned by Oakenfold, Sasha, Digweed, and others. Cox was born in Manchester in 1962, to parents originally from Barbados (they later moved back after he grew up). Cox began DJing family get-togethers at the age of eight, selecting records from his parents' stack of soul 45s. He was buying his own records soon after, and owned his first pair of turntables at the age of 15. The rest of his teens was spent making spare money at any event he could DJ; though Cox studied electrical engineering in college, he quit after six months and began working various jobs until he could become a full-time DJ. Cox had followed the musical trends from disco to rare groove on to hip-hop during the late '70s and early '80s, but the introduction of house into Britain during the middle part of the decade convinced him that he had found his niche. After moving to Brighton in 1986, his reputation bloomed during the acid house explosion of 1988-1989; Cox played the opening night at Shoom, one of the defining club nights of Britain's house revolution (as well as other legendary hot spots like Land of Oz and Spectrum). In front of 15,000 at the 1989 open-air event Sunrise, he unveiled his use of three decks on the mix; that signature technique built him into one of the top DJs of the late '80s and early '90s. By 1992 Cox had signed an unheard-of long-term production deal with Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Records and hit number 23 on the British charts with his debut single, "I Want You (Forever)." His second single, "Does It Feel Good to You," also reached the Top 40, and he quickly diversified by setting up his own record label (Worldwide Ultimatum) and an international DJ agency (Ultimate). The onset of a more hardcore rave sound (and the fact that he was increasingly becoming pigeonholed within it) forced Cox to spend several years reestablishing his niche. In a bit of irony, commercial successes like Cox's own steered him away from high-BPM candy-core and toward the still soulful house and techno scene. Three years after his hit singles, Cox returned with the first volume in what became a genre-defining mix compilation series, F.A.C.T.: Future Alliance of Communications and Tecknology. After the first volume dropped in 1995, surprisingly high sales figures earned a second two years later (released in America as well). One year later, Cox released his first studio full-length with 1996's At the End of the Cliché. Mix album The Sound of Ultimate B.A.S.E. followed in 1998, with another studio album, Phuture 2000, appearing in 1999. One year later, he released the self-explanatory Mixed Live, recorded at Chicago's Crobar. A second edition of Mixed Live appeared two years later along with the mix CD Global. The DJ's next busy year was 2004 with the Pure Intec mix CD appearing in August and Cox's entry in the Back to Mine series dropping in November. Second Sign appeared in 2006 with new Cox productions and a diverse set of collaborators, including superstar DJ Norman Cook and Detroit techno pioneer Kevin Saunderson. John Bush, All Music Guide
Popular Damage live! : 7.30 pm - 8.30 pm

GERMANY
www.myspace.com/populardamage
Dance + Electro + Pop = Popular Damage. Thus was the simple algebra behind the 2007 genesis of the collaborative project between Manchester-born Nadine Raihani and Stephan Hengst. Berlin’s post-rock and indie scene was the common denominator which brought these two forces together in their quest perfect the formula for dance-worthy pop music.
This quest began with their cracking EP “Top Hits of the USA” written and produced by Nadine in her studio and released in summer 2008 on a net label. Within no time at all, the punchy track “Everybody Got Young” stormed indie radio playlists and grabbed the attention of blogs everywhere. In November of the same year, they put out two unfaithful cover versions of tracks by Tegan and Sara and Digitalism (Popular Damage Assimilations) on their Myspace page, which triggered an incredible hype: the songs popped up all over Berlin radio, getting airplay without even having been released. The icing on the cake came in the form of a big “thumbs up” from Digitalism themselves (“...it’s fantastically different and really unique”), who hand-picked the track as one of the winning remixes for their feature Myspace competition, which drew over 1000 entries. Popular Damage’s is a real child of the noughties: the internet is the key medium behind the project, and free track give-aways on Myspace have played an instrumental role in spreading Popular Damage’s infectious dance-electro-pop inventions amid their loyal following and beyond (www.myspace.com/populardamage). The band has been inundated with remix requests and support slot requests: they have already completed remixes for Miss Platnum & Zoot Woman and already toured with The Rakes, Dúné and The Whip to name but a few. On the basis of this they were subsequently invited to showcase at SXSW 2009 in Austin, Texas. Other fantastic shows played so far include Berlin Fashion Week, the “Intro” tour, as well as a breathtaking show for the World Athletic Championships in front of the beautiful backdrop of the Brandenburg Gate. They have been added to the Sony Ericsson Berlin Fashion Week Download Special and are also included on the Motor FM compilation. Their shows are energy-filled, saw-toothed and a pleasure to behold; both rock and electronic arrangements are incorporated into the live sets and instruments are relentlessly swapped mid-song (including guitars, bass, synths, samplers, laptops and live drums), and are unfailingly met with resounding positivity. Indeed, the US shows were very warmly received, yielding descriptions of Popular Damage as "A poppier version of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs crossed with Daftpunk!".
The basic maths of last year has been surpassed: Popular Damage has progressed into the realms of staggering physics and chemistry. The result? Explosive sparks and jagged musical detonations which will blow you out of the water. Popular Damage’s latest EP “The Royal Fly”, out as of November 2009, well and truly raises the bar, featuring a new and re-recorded version of “Everybody Got Young” and remixes of “Everybody Got Young” by Double Dragon & Fukkk Offf, as well as the tracks “Exclusive” and “Easy Money” (with a remix by Beatshaker & Blender). This, beyond all doubt, is an equation which works.
Buraka Som Sistema live! : 8.45 pm - 9.45 pm

PORTUGAL
www.buraka.tv / www.myspace.com/burakasomsistema
Buraka Som Sistema's rise as the international agents of the Angolan dance music style known as kuduro might be seen as very sudden by most. Truthfully, their rocket ride to success was a long time coming. Three of the group's members -- LilJohn (b. Joăo Barbosa), Riot (b. Rui Pité), and Kalaf (b. Kalaf Ângelo) -- have been tagging along since 2002, first as part of jungle/drum'n'bass collective Cooltrain Crew, with Kalaf acting as MC and the other two as DJs and producers. Two years later, they formed the nu-jazz band One Week Project, through which they released one critically acclaimed album.
Then, in 2006, growing infatuations for kuduro led to the formation of Buraka Som Sistema. Initiating the project as a regular club night, they met their fourth member, MC/producer Conductor (b. Andro Carvalho), who had previous experience with the critically praised eclectic hip-hop group Conjunto Ngonguenha. Word of mouth about them started to grow fast, which led to packed club nights and acclaimed gigs in the Portuguese summer festival circuit. In September, the limited-edition debut EP From Buraka to the World was released, quickly selling out its supply and gaining rapturous critical applause, while national radio and video airplay for the track "Yah" grew exponentially until reaching near-saturation status by the start of 2007.
This was when international interest arrived. A low-key 7" single release, Yah/Sem Makas, soon achieved considerable recognition, as support from notable club DJs led to a widespread interest in Buraka Som Sistema. A number of highly praised single releases and celebrated gigs around the globe followed within a year, cementing their growing reputation. All of this culminated in November of 2008 with the European release of their eagerly awaited debut full-length, Black Diamond, which garnered generally positive reviews from critics.
Carl Craig : 10 pm - 11.30 pm

planet e – UNITED STATES
www.myspace.com/carlcraig
Carl Craig is a Detroit-based producer of techno music, and is considered to be one of the most important names in the Detroit second generation of techno producers and DJs. According to an article about Craig, "Of this group, Craig was often recognised as being the most artful and the most willing to engage the rapidly growing shape of techno outside Detroit." [1] Carl Craig has approached techno using inspiration from a wide range of musical genres, including jazz and soul.
Carl Craig has released many successful albums under a large number of aliases, such as BFC, Psyche, Paperclip People, 69, Designer Music and Innerzone Orchestra. Using one alias, Innerzone Orchestra, he released perhaps his best-known track "Bug in The Bassbin" in 1992, a track that many regard as being a key influence in the then evolving sound of drum and bass.[citation needed]
Carl Craig has also created his own record label called Planet E Communications, which apart from his own work, has released records by well known techno and house artists like Kevin Saunderson, Alton Miller and Moodymann.
Craig served as co-creator and artistic director for the widely successful Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2000 and 2001. His subsequent dismissal by festival organizers caused substantial controversy within the Detroit techno community, igniting a high-profile campaign in his favor.[2] In 2001, Craig filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against festival producer Pop Culture Media.[3] Craig will return as artistic director for the 2010 festival, which is now produced by Paxahau.
Part of what makes Craig's style so unique and separates him from much of the normal "Detroit Techno" sound, including current works, are his remixes of world beat and jazz songs. This has helped spark a new movement of electronic music.[citation needed]
Regarding the many positions he has held in the music industry (artist, producer, DJ, label boss, and more), Craig has said: "I have a bad habit of getting my hands dirty in every little thing, and I really do enjoy it."

Mabe It was in the year of 2007, when Dj Mabe and a few of his friends decided not to put up with the poor offer of the local party scene any more. They founded the club TabulaRasa intending to bring real good happenings to the youngsters around. The foundation of TabulaRasa led direclty to Dj Mabe's passion for Drum & Bass and thus also for Djing. Mid-2008 he became a member of the Step One crew, the resident Dj's at the TabulaRasa parties. He knows how to reflect all subgenres of drum & bass in all his sets and how to intoxicate the audience with his dedicative performance. Inspired by artists like Andy C, Noisia, Dirthyphonics and Sigma he devotes much of his leisure time to the music. Now in 2010, he happily follows numerous bookings throughout the country, topped by the absolute highlight - the UAF Festival.
Mr. Kju
Mr.Kju 's DJ-life began at the turn of the millennium, when he more or less randomly encountered two turntables and a mixer. At this time, in which he was more in the "Metal and Punk" genre established, the first Drum & Bass party appealed very much to him. >From that point it was clear which musical style would come the fore for Mr.Kju, especially because he has always been a big vinyl fan. It was not long until the first Drum & Bass parties emerged in the Tyrolean lowlands. Also Bookings for Full Contact and „Filmriss“ in Innsbruck followed. Through his membership of the former DJ Pools "Young Rotation" he achieved several appearances outside the Tyrol like in Linz, Vienna and Burgenland. Together with Dj Bass.IKK he founded the Step One crew in 2005. The crew with it's 5 members (Bass.IKK, Mr. Kju, Urlito, Mabe, Stax) aligned in late 2007 with the organizer TabulaRasa and is now an essential part of the Austrian Drum & Bass scene. Some time ago Mr.Kju discovered another passion in addittion to djing: the tinkering of his own tunes with which he already inflamed the mood of the audience at Vienna's Flex.

Already with a number of releases on established labels such as Shogun Audio, Liquid V, Bassbin, Creative Source, Horizons, Progress, Brigand and Fokuz, there aren't many drum and bass DJs on the circuit without a Perez tune in their bag.
Originally from Belgium, Drum and Bass comes naturally to 22-year-old Alix, who has immersed himself in music from an early age. Alix started to DJ at the age of 14 and progressed into production at 17, collaborating with other hotly tipped artists such as Jenna G, Redeyes, Sabre, MC Fats, Spectrasoul and Specific.
With regular appearances at Fabio's legendary "Swerve" night and Bar Rumba's well-respected "Movement" weekly, Alix is also receiving bookings worldwide from Paris to Toronto. With his smooth yet sophisticated selection, drawing for all the latest dubs, he does not fail as a DJ. Alix also has numerous tracks play-listed on BBC 1Xtra and receives heavy support from respected players within the scene: from Bukem to Bailey, he has been repped as "the one to watch" and "representing the future of Drum and Bass."
Alix has recently been featured on the front cover of ATM Magazine as one of the "leaders of the nu-skool" and has had a variety of press across worldwide dance magazines; he has also been nominated for two awards as Breakthrough DJ and Breakthrough Producer of the year at the BBC 1Xtra Bass Awards. This British super-producer has gone on to become one of the most eclectic and unique individuals working within electronic music today. Consistently escaping categorisation, John’s genre-defying catalogue spans the worlds of Electro, PunkRock, Trance and Drum & Bass, and a few other spaces across the bpm spectrum.John’s career began in illustrious style as the pioneering Goldie picked up on this mild-mannered, blonde-locked science graduate and his distinctive drum and bass productions, and he was immediately signed to the legendary Metalheadz label. Tracks such as the euphoric “Up All Night” became seminal hits and even in the ever changing world of drum and bass they continue to be played and enjoyed today.
John B instantly became a headlining name on flyers across the globe, and his touring schedule has been non-stop ever since. Never more so than today, John B averages in excess of 120 appearances a year, at club-nights and festivals right across the globe.
Establishing his own stable of labels (Beta Recordings, Tangent, Chihuahua and Nu_Electro) to reflect his diverse tastes from liquid funk to Latin, provided the perfect platform for John’s groundbreaking sonic experimentation to develop.
From his studio and label HQ in Maidenhead, UK, John has since made major waves within the wider world of dance music. Having picked up on John’s early forays into trance production, Perfecto label boss and DJ superstar Paul Oakenfold commissioned tracks which ended up alongside the likes of Madonna and Justin Timberlake on the epic “Great Wall” compilation. John has also long worn his love of 80s electronica on his sleeve, way before the fashionistas jumped on the bandwagon. He’s been busy signing hot new electro-influenced tracks for his most recent label venture, Nu Electro & has had support from electrohouse scene favourites such as Larry Tee, Mark Moore & Tommie Sunshine.

Berlin's Tim Eliot represents the top percentile of European drum & bass producers. With substantial training in classical piano, he began dabbling in electronic music in 1992. Several years later he began receiving recognition on local Berlin radio stations and a series of irrefutably classic 12"s ensued. Seminal works on Don Q and Position Chrome catapulted Current Value into a literal phase of underground superstardom. Shortly thereafter, he also began playing live in his hometown and subsequently in other places in Europe and in the USA. The early Position Chrome releases like 'Creative Robot', 'Skybreaker', and 'Bass Riot' were very well received... particularly in North America. The decidedly dark and often dissonant sound of the techstep revolution resonated with many disenfranchised junglists as well as electronica listeners; spearheaded in part by Current Value. With numerous singles and 4 LP's, Current Value left an indelible impression on the drum & bass and techno genres. With subsequent appearances on renowned labels like DonQ Records (Ger), Ruff-Teck (NL), Klangkrieg (Ger), Phantom Noise (Ger), NoBreaks (Ger), and Soothsayer Recordings, Current Value has continued to produce quality drum & bass for the dancefloor as well as the living room audience. In 2004, after 1 year of education, he received his Diploma at the School of Audio Engineering SAE - enhancing his production values and abilities even further. In mid 2005 Soothsayer released the first of several Current Value 12"s. Successive releases including a split 12" w/ Kid Kryptic (Soothsayer/Theoretic), and the monumental "The Unspoken" EP underscore the growing quality and number of Current Value releases. In 2006, Current Value has delivered even bigger and better tunes with his new work for Soothsayer Recordings, Intransigent Recordings, the ultimate UK labels Obscene Recordings and Tech Itch, Counterstrikes label Algorythm and the amazing US based Evol Intent Recordings. Current Value has also begun collaboration with SPL (Tech Itch, Freak, Lost Soul), Limewax (Freak, Tech Freak, Tech Itch, L/B), Counterstrike (Algorythm, Future Sickness, ...) and Raiden (Offkey, Freak, Position Chrome) and has provided tunes for various of the mentioned finest drum'n'bass labels. Being part of the "Freak Family" he is booked through Anger Management and plays sets frequently all around the globe.

Their Trance Party "Anderswelt" soon became one of the pillars of Underground Music Culture in Salzburg. The "Ginkgo Club", their Tech House & Progressive House Project followed rocking the crowds on Salzburg from the groovy side of sound. In 2003 Otherland Productions took over the organization of Salzburgs Streetparade, the "Unite Parade", which is each year the main event of Salzburg electronic music with over 20.000 people attending. With the Unite Parade as the demonstration of "joie de vivre", "die Demonstration der Lebensfreude", Otherland Productions are the speaking organ of Dance Culture in Salzburg. Often involved in political discussions Otherland Productions gave Salzburg Electronic Scene a good profile in the public and a strong stand in the city. Otherland Productions gave inspiration and platform for many younger acts in salzburg. As a Dj, Daka always went for the interesting, non mainstream part of electronic music. Genre bending he presents in his djsets what he thinks is moving up-to- date electronic music. Starting with the trippy side of Dance Music and Downtempo he got more and more into Tech House, Minimal, recent Techno and Breaks. As his djname daka- skydancer says, because of his passion to dance he knows to spin his crowd into trance. never predictable he takes the dancers through a journey of modern dance music. due to the fact that he got more and more busy with promoting he plays mostly in Salzburg, putting his efforts in making his hometown a metropolis of electroinc music. he mostly plays on his own events alongside dj friends like Oliver Moldan, Kasey Tayler, D-nox and many others (on Ginkgo Club). Within the Anderswelt he played with acts like Oforia, Fatali, Perfect Stranger.

twisted records – United Kingdom
www.myspace.com/therealshpongle
Shpongle is a psychedelic downtempo or Psybient psychedelic ambient project from the United Kingdom. The project was formed in 1996 after the pair viewed a solar eclipse in India. The two went into the studio and attempted to duplicate the experience in sonic form, and the result was a 20-minute track, "...And the Day Turned to Night," which was featured on Shpongle's first album "Are You Shpongled?" and the Twisted label compilation Eclipse - A Journey Of Permanence & Impermanence. The core members are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one third of The Infinity Project), but they often collaborate with other artists. Their sound has sampled Eastern ethnic instruments and Western contemporary synthesizer-based psychedelic music. Posford is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements. The name "Shpongle" is not a dictionary recognized word; in an interview taking place in Russia, Raja Ram stated that "Shpongle" is an umbrella term for feeling positive and euphoric emotions.
Shpongle's first track, Vapour Rumours, was released on TIP Records' Infinite Excursions compilation in 1996.Their debut album, Are You Shpongled?, was released 1998 on Twisted Records. Their latest album "Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland" was released on November 28, 2009

Mistakes Music - FRANCE
www.myspace.com/sebastienleger
Sébastien Léger is one of the most outstanding artists in the recent electronic music business, an exceptionally gifted producer who is operating far beyond all the French filter house clichés.
Being born as the son of two professional musicians Sébastien attended the academy of music from the age of five to 15, integrating technique and musical theory on piano and drums. But soon Sébastien Léger began visiting record stores, being impressed by the likes of Ian Pooley, Daft Punk and DJ Sneak, diving into a complete new world. Consequently Sébastien stepped behind the turntables. Training his DJ-skills was not that difficult for the talented percussionist he was. In 1998 he started creating his own house productions, or even techno, still completed with syncopations and funk sounds. In 1998 Sébastien published his first EPs under the alias Deaf'n'Dumb Crew.
Over the following years Sébastien was releasing more than 30 records on many international labels, building his worldwide reputation and contributing an essential element to its musical evolution. Working for Black Jack gave Sébastien the chance to meet many prestigious artists of Chicago House. He learned a lot from them but his aim was to innovate and not imitate. As always in his long musical career he kept the faith to pushing the boundaries ahead.
In 1999 Sébastien and his partner Jimmy van de Velde established the house and tech-house labels Cyclik, Subkroniq and recently BITS music for more Electro/Floating House. That year saw Sébastien Léger´s first album “Atomic Pop” coming out including a great appearance of Junior Sanchez. Parallel to building his international DJ career Sébastien Léger is becoming of the world´s most demanded remixers, working for artists like Armand Van Helden, Kevin Saunderson, Ron Carroll, Jakatta feat Seal or Paul Johnson, or labels like Defected or Intec just to name a few!
Consequent progression in his production work, the great variety of house music colours in his tracks, the construction and arrangement of its electro and funky rhythms, all these ingredients helped to establish his position at the forefront of reconstructing contemporary electronic music. As a result of this you can find Sébastien Léger´s releases on world famous imprints such as Carl Cox's Intec, Defected or Josh Wink's Ovum just to give a brief summary. After gaining a lot of success and appreciation in Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, the US and the Netherlands Sébastien Léger is only at the beginning of conquering the electronic music world, giving his audience the great chance to dive into the electro bath.

Ben Drill - born in December 1980 in Vöcklabruck, began with 16 years on the wheels of steel spinning. At that time, were placed fine hip-hop beats and Ben worked hard on his skill's like beat juggle and doublings. 3 years later he moved on from his style and tried to launch the first-techno, which convinced him that more creativity and grooves were behind. Ben devoted to the techno - music which he merged perfectly with his speed and his skillz from the fatbeat turntablism - so a national real highlight of which not to be missed!

4YOUREYE

eye|con, salon projektionist, digital – vienna
4youreye was established in the early 1990s and is based on the Rave, Ambient and Club culture of that decade. 4youreye have, since their creation over 10 years ago, not only made a name for themselves in their own country but can also look back on manys uccessful international performances. The 2 man Crew stand for fast hard cuts and unconventional screen sequences taking images that we believe to know from old viewing habits, out of their original context to then generate them into a completely new context. That, what music tries its best to express, is portrayed here in always changing picture collages. They work principally live, so in real time produced FX with the intentiont o combine music and visuals into one form entity. Music becomes visual and can be experienced in a totally different way. There emerge unique time-limited images, fed out of computer images, TVsamples and their own productions. Found, imagined and found again serve as fragmentary clichés which then with acquisitiveness and the strength of reinterpretation create a mind-boggling diversity.
Stories are understood as a never-ending Babylonian Archive of pictures, media, sounds and symbols that explore the open spaces of the future. Aesthetically, 4youreye relate their non linear and expansive conceptions towardst he abstract Art films of the 1920`s, the literary and politicalcut-up and collage technique of the experimental films from the 1950`s / 60`s, the complete concept of the happening art and rockconcerts of the 1970`s and the live concept of the video scratchers of the 1980`s.
In the beginning of 2005 the English Magazine "DJ-Mag" has voted 4youreye for the first time one of the top 20 VJs worldwide, being placed number 18.At the end of 2005 „DJ-Mag“ has again voted 4youreye into the Top 20 VJs ranking – this time 4youreye is placed number 13. In 2006 4youreye is placed number 14 and in 2007 & 2008 number 5. 2007 the German magazine “De:Bug” voted 4youreye into the Top10 VJs – 4youreye was placed number 8.

BRUNO TAIT

cologne
Started as a project at the interface of graphic- and light-design in the club context, BRUNO TAIT soon became a well-known live video act, who is – through his unconventional visual experiments – famous far beyond the Cologne region.Out of live camera footage and self produced vector worlds, Bruno Tait brings to life, a unique image choreography with much attention to details. Even though the concept VJing stands for the mixing of existing videos, BRUNO TAIT
sets much store by producing his own videos. The idea is to bring back abstract shapes and movements to it’s purest forms and showing them in a reduced minimal language of images.
BRUNO TAIT wants to visualize sounds without being loud enough to drown them.
Equally characteristic is his engagement in activities away from the electronic music scene. Projects with Jazz and Worldmusic has taken him to far off places, anywhere from Kazakhstan to Senegal.
With the inception of the Bandbreite-ev (2004) and the organisation of the VJ-festival c/o pop (2004/2005) he is all the more part of the international VJ-network.

In his work Wolfgang Semlitsch focuses on the construction and subsequent dissolution of his subtly generated imagery. He interweaves abstract generated and real world images to emotionally penetrative sequences. This time Raphael Kubysta - PublicMotion - joins C27 with a focus on DCC. THE FUNNY ASTRONAUT (optical matrix) Austria “Working for many years as designer for lighting and colors, I decided that I also wanted to enrich the world of parties with my visual ideas and concepts. So I started to realize the images in my head with my camera and the computer.“Until now he has travelled to Morocco, Portugal, Germany, Romania and many many more to visualize parties and festivals. To name a few Boom Festival 2008, Vuuv 2009, Freedom Festival 2007, Rhythms of Peace 2007, Transilvanis Calling 2007, Timegate 2007/2009, Sonnenklang 2006/2007, Spirt Base 2005/2006/2007/2008/2009, Urban Art Forms Festival 2007/2008/2009... Behind the visuals-project “the funny astronaut” stands the aim to create the ideal sphere of visual projections mainly for psy gatherings. The intention is to create an environment of moving images to help the dancing crowd or just spectators to abandon reality and get lost in trance. Abstract patterns, dancing and the change of visual perception under different influences are my most used motives. Ideally the whole place is covered by the decoration via multiple screens or even huge installations. Visually reacting to the music and interacting with the present dj plays an important part in his work. This makes each event special and a unique visual experience the audience.
Philosophy/vision: To create and expand emotions! Additionally to his ambitions as visual artist he is organizing the biggest psytrance/progressive events in Vienna called "COSMIC - Space Disco"(www.cosmic.ag) and one of the biggest festivals in Austira – Paradise Festival (www.paradise-festival.at).

I am working resolution independant so I can deliver artwork in print, film, HdTv and any other formats.
OPTICAL MATRIX
I performed my artwork all over the globe. 2004: creation of a multimedia Festival called "OPTICAL MATRIX" - got big attention at major promoters worldwide. here a clip from our 1st OPTICAL MATRIX EVENT IN St. Petersburg: The slogan of the OPTICAL MATRIX Festival 2005 was DJing was yesterday!
beside the term: musicbands are oldfashioned two slogans created to confront the music industry with the logical next step in show, performance and entertainment. The DJ of the future is a DVJ and the musicact of the future is a multimedia act.
VJ PERFORMANCE
My goal in visual perfromance is to achieve perfect audiovisual symbiosis and my VJ styles are ranging from "minimal mindblowing" to "fully 3D synchronized" Special sets can produce a real live Performance whereby all visuals are created from Live camera pictures. EYE.CANDY

amstetten, linz
tektix.bob.reinka.org
Driven by the technical possibilities of today, the two artists forming eye.candy, Robert Leitner and Veronika Pauser realize and invent themselves anew over and over again. VJing is their passion; consequently they put complete and energized focus in this activity, with a high level of enjoyment and fulfillment.Whether fast cuts in an eye-catching show or the illumination of architecturally complex facades - the context of the content has top priority. Therefore their artistic expressiveness is almost boundless and their performances are always individual and adjusted to the location and to the current mood of the music. Due to this symbiosis between audio and video, the transmission of a uniform message is guaranteed.
In order to develop their own creative personality, eye.candy is working quite enthusiastic on stunning projects. They realized for instance a visualization for the AEC facade or programmed their own VJ software with possibilities to include the audience in their performances in order to enable collaborative music visualization.
This experienced team always strives for an extension and reflection of our real world towards an expanded view of things. With their created content, people should get an insight as well as a forward-looking view of both, a better self and a more spectral life.
EYEM

pooool, equaleyes – vienna
eYeM sets several conceptual approaches. One of them is to realize visualizations in as much contexts and genres as possible. This manifested in performances and installations at film- and media-festivals like Diagonale, ARS Electronica or the Life Ball. For all thematically defined performances new image material is produced which follows a simple formal matrix. Pupil, eye, eye-pair and face are the initial shapes of which new fittings and combinations are tinkered. Except a few amendatory picture quotes like the eye-cut in the andalusian dog of Luis Buñuel, only self-produced materials are used. Graphical elements and sign languages are layered upon alienated images and pictures of eyes and faces. Multi-projections, filmed in time-loops and ad hoc programs for the control of the graphical elements (as prototype-development of a VJ-console), serve as instruments of their performances.FADE FX

Let there be light, as I:D use to say before gently fucking your eyeballs. Those three lightengineers and that one videodude from Vienna firmly believe in the hallucinogetic power of moving pictures.Influenced by anything fun – from the Brothers Lumière to Duffy Duck - iPods, cams, midi- controllers, game-consoles, micro-projectors, paper&pen and even good ol' laptop become the playground of a new generation of visual performers.
Apart from their monthly ménage à quatre at Vienna's Flex, I:D can be seen on every artistically inclined wall they happen to come across. And yet it moves.
ILLFUSION

As the resident urban art forms VJ-crew ill[f]usion has proven live-visual qualities.Ill[f]usion is a VJ crew consisting of three visual artists who are all well educated in means of video, 3D and graphical content creation.
This ill 'fusion' founded in early 2005 when the first austrian VJ competition took place and since then has illuminated lots of drum and bass parties in a variety of different locations. But the ill[f]usionists do not limit themselves to pure drum and bass, they are dedicated to all kinds of music and more important to all sorts of visualart.
ILLUVISION

budapest, vienna, london
www.myspace.com/illuvision
Illuvision is a VJ group of 3 media arts students from Budapest, Vienna and London. Tey launched their group in 2007 and since then have been working with several party organizers, DJs and theatre groups in Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. Their main goal with making visuals is to show a story or to give it other meanings then to make it decorative. According to this they have been working on a reformative VJ project called 'stereo'.
Technically they use two different projections placed side by side to create one coherent picture. It's a kind of visual experiment, where they connect different pictures that have a subjective relation to each other.
Practically it's a live edited 'movie' that constitutes an individual part of the performance but it is, needless to say, harmonizing with the music.
It is a well-established fact that pictures shown after each other influence the viewer. Their artistic concept relies on this statement only that in this case they square this basic idea by showing loosely connected pictures simultaneously, creating a more intense impression.
INDIVISUALISTS.INC

munich
www.myspace.com/indivisualist
Indivisualists.incorporated founded in the beginning of 2007 is a visual art collective consisting of the design student Tobias Kalleder (student at GSO University of Applied Sciences based in Nuremberg) also known as Indivisualist and the digital media designer in vision and sound Manfred Hirsch (based in Munich) alias Quota.Their major goal is the completely live generated visualisation of electronic music. There is no video mixing in the classical sense but very minimalistic, reactive and abstract visual worlds (without any message or naked women dancing crap) in perfect symbiosis with the music are created in realtime. Furthermore they put themselves to high and professional performance standard by tending more to visual art and to put existing rooms into the right visual setting and atmosphere using multiple projectors and multi screen setups, architecture mapping and other cutting-edge projection techniques. For these great experiences additional light engineering is barely needed (except strobes/fog are of course very welcome). Always perfectly hitting the beats and breaks the collective deeply crawls into the soundscapes of modern electronic dance music. But event visualizations should not be used like a replacement for cinema or TV programmes, more likely they should be used to fill complete rooms with moving light and to create an unique experience hand in hand together with the music. Audio and visuals belong together like day and night, the more senses are stimulated the more fun it is.
Indivisualists.inc's services include besides of standard live VJ sets for example special event content, graphic design, multi projection setups, architecture mapping and complete projection design for events and clubs.

LICHTTAPETE

eye|con – vienna
LICHTTAPETE is an Austrian artist formation which ranks among the most significant representatives of the so-called visualist-scene, which has established increasingly over the past years. Both in the event sector and in the artistic endeavour the viewer mostly adopts a completely passive attitude and only figures as a consumer. This is different with the installations of LICHTTAPETE, where through a contingent of a wide technical equipment rooms are staged new and automatically the viewer is incorporated in the events.
The installation creates a kind of second skin made of light, which not only redefines the room, but the visitors themselves become the projection screen.
They are able to affect the scenario with their bodies by conscious or unconscious moves through which their shadows again modify the room. Technically speaking, the artists of LICHTTAPETE, Johannes Menneweger (He also does digital projections under the artist name of PIXKOMPRESSOR.), Tim Schmelzer and Marcus Zobl, act against the mainstream.
Digital constructed material is analogized through photography and projected into the room through numerous slide projectors.
In contrast to a mere digital projection this technique achieves a certain softness of the transitions from illustration to illustration, which again grants the installations a certain warmness.
Through these light wallpapers the surroundings are newly created and transformed into rooms of calmness, encounter and communication. Thematically speaking, the artists particularly correspond to locality, the impression of the room and its own virtual charisma. Thus rooms win a new identity by enforcing their architecture in structure and singularity.
For instance, starry skies covered the rooms of the Hofstallungen at the event “Per Anhalter durch die Galaxies”. (As a hitchhiker through the galaxy)
The area of the company Würth was transformed into a jungle without further ado, and inside the Gloriette virtual flower birds buzzed on the ceiling.
Usually projections require a room. This is different with moving objects, if people themselves become projection screens. LICHTTAPETE often project their projections into the crowd. Having little Icons on your body, you become a projection screen yourself; you become the medium of a shared message.

Without their visuals the parties are not even half as wicked.
Onkel Tuca's know-how about the effective live steering of VJ software led to the production of the already legendary ReAct MIDI controller in 2004.

Since 2003 Jakob Hütter aka vjekk is involved in visual presentationin the context of electronic music events, especially in the domains
graphic design, decoration and visuals. In 2005 he joins the Hoagascht collective, which made its mark through DnB events in Salzburg, and now is used as a viral social plattform for artists, social activists and promoters throughout austria. He serves as a visual concept supervisor for crews like bass intoxication, noise collage, kollektor club, fazit0 and more... Since 2008 he's producing experimental film, performance videos, analogue-graphic and photo animation series, searching for new ways of creative concepts and visual presentation. He is eager to find an individual and personal link between graphics and video, abstract and concrete, analogue and digital art. His visuals distinguish themselves through square-edged structures, which alternate with abstraced motion-sequences in the organic and anorganic scope. Through fast, permanent renewed overlappings collages rich in contrast and with rhythmic colour/shape-effects develop.
In a permanent fight against his inner psycholodical demons, he additionally uses the tool love -provided mainly by his relationship with bea, intensified by his vj partner adisign) to express a personal and sometimes emotional visual journey. Audiovisual fusion put events on a new, exciting level of experience. One has the chance to combine light and sound to generate always new, dynamic, spherically appearing moods.
